Still so fresh
I know it’s been a long time since I visited Thailand but it’s still so fresh in my memories. Maybe because of its vibe as those who are frequent visitors of Thailand knows how unpredictable the weather is in Thailand most of the time in the year. There are very less people who are lucky enough to escape rain during their visit. Earlier, whenever we visited Thailand, we were among those who had to put up with the mood change of the weather. It suddenly started pouring in when we planned to get outside. Sometimes it led to the whole change in plans as well due to the unavoidable overcast condition or downpour for long hours.
But, last time we were among those few lucky ones who managed to get the blessing of the Sun. As you know, we started from Khao Lak then Naka Island in Phuket, after that we visited Krabi then Phi Phi Island & lastly, Bangkok for a couple of days before heading home. Surprisingly, at every location we arrived, we heard the same thing: “It was raining heavily just a couple of days back or it was raining yesterday but it looks sunny today and the forecast is good.” We felt blessed imagining the cloud and rain decided to travel around a little ahead of us and wanted to check out before we check in.
So, we made the most of our last visit in Thailand. As you can see in my pictures, I got the most of the sun and I literally soaked the solar energy as long as I could. Those who followed me on Snapchat and followed my Insta story must have noticed how I bragged about my tanned skin on my way back home.
So, it might be the super happy vibe which has kept everything still so fresh in my memories. Or, it might just be the adventurous part that I experienced in the visit. Well, my Thailand trip is often remarkable with some (nasty) surprises. Remember the time I forgot the bag of currencies on my couch when I visited Thailand prior to this last visit? (Yeah, pat me on my back for doing that.) This time also I had a sensational experience (apart from trying to sneak into the infamous Ghost Tower in Bangkok), I lost my phone at a location which is in the middle of nowhere. Yeah, I lost it somewhere while I was on my day trip to many islands around Phi Phi.
Though it’s a different thing that I was completely lost in this paradise but losing my phone made me found my senses while I was on the boat. I was so sad about losing all the footages from this magical islands and losing all the texts and many of the recent contacts that weren’t synced. Of course, I was fearing my biggest fear that all the data could be misused from my phone at any time. As I had ‘find my iphone’ installed and registered, somebody advised me to turn that on so that at least I get a little information of where it is IF I am lucky. Of course, I had no hope to get it back (no one would have). After 4 hours, when I got back to Dusit Thani Resort in Krabi, somebody called up my sister (which number I forwarded all my calls to) and the person said he found a phone in their Phi Phi Island trip. They asked if the screensaver picture belonged to someone that we knew of. When my sister said it belonged to the owner, the person said that he knew me. Then he took my brother’s local number from my sister and called us up. He told us that he and his friends were following me on my social channels.
This was the biggest surprise to me that I got my phone back and more than that, it was found by one of my followers. They were staying in Phuket and we got to collect the phone from them when we went to Bangkok. I felt really lucky.
My stay in Krabi and the day trip to Phi Phi remained one of the best experiences with a great mix of happy and sad moments. I literally made the best of those moments consisting nervousness and excitement. The wonderful hospitality of Dusit Thani Krabi Beach Resort made me feel at home and as everyone of you know, I love to be at the beachfront properties that have their serene private beaches. I’m so glad I got to enjoy some super yummy Thai, Italian and special seafood, capture the breathtaking moments of Sunset while being at the beach, sip some intriguing cocktails and spend most of my time at the beaches all alone with so many crabs in different sizes crawling around me. The time spent with the real stars of Krabi i.e, crabs was so special, indeed! I didn’t want anything else either.
Phi Phi island day trip was pretty amazing as we had a day full of sunshine. We visited Ko Phi Phi, Maya Bay, Bamboo Island, Railay Beach and yeah, as you can imagine, I was completely lost until my phone was lost. Bro even said it to me on my way back, ‘you were completely lost’ and my reply to him was ‘see, you find good strangers in paradise’ came 2 days later when he collected my phone from them.
While planning this trip, bro said we would begin with Bangkok and then head to the islands (as we always do) but I planned it the opposite way this time. My 2-day stay in Bangkok was quite adventurous – whether it was collecting my phone or sneaking into the abandoned Ghost Tower and trying the naive things (as you all say) like breaking locks to reach to its terrace. This time, I wasn’t lucky though as the staircases were completely sealed. *sob sob*
But my stay at Shangri La Bangkok was incredible. I love staying at Shangri La properties and I am always welcomed by its smell (yeah, I’m crazy about fragrances). Apart from that, the food at Shangri La always gives me the best feeling and I always end up binge eating. You can easily figure out the array of delicious food for breakfast at Shangri La Bangkok from one of the pictures I’m sharing here. Usually, we take a lot of things on the table but in Shangri La, we faced a little challenge from a couple of hotel guests.
So many hotel guests were following us when we were taking things from the buffet and once the table was ready, they came up to us to take the picture of our table and some even challenged us to finish them. We literally finished more than half of all the dishes we took and believe me I thought I wouldn’t need to eat anything for the next 2 days. This was a fun challenge though!
Apart from the delicious breakfast by the Chao Phraya River, Shang Palace is another place which is a must visit for a lunch or dinner. I was literally on food coma when I was staying at Shangri La Bangkok. The other thing that I loved about this stay was the view from my room’s window overlooking the cityscape of Bangkok and Chao Phraya River. It was wonderful to stay at one of the Horizon Club rooms as I loved spending the evening at the club and the club was on the same floor where my room was. I loved sitting there at the time of sunset and blue hour to watch how the city is getting lit gradually!
As the time I spent in Bangkok last year was really short, I look forward to spend more time in Bangkok in my upcoming visit this year and plan some crazy adventures *wink wink*. But before that, I’ll tell you a few adventures that I did in Bali. That’s coming up next.
Lots of love,
