Verona and Venice
It was an awesome trip to Italy. I took time off between Fashion Week FW17 and made a point to travel around with my family. I headed straight to Verona and Venice from Milano. Yes, Verona, the city of love! The city of Romeo and Juliet had its special romantic vibe. I realized it as soon as I entered the city. Beautiful buildings, art, culture and adorable couples walking the streets hand in hand… I found some beautiful sight there as soon as I arrived.
We were so lucky to stay close to the centre of the city again. Just like Milan, the city of Verona also had a spectacular Piazza Duomo Cathedral. The eating joints were so romantic with cute lighting. It was also luxury designer brand retail’s galore. So, obviously, Milan just saw the beginning of my shopping spree. I couldn’t control my strong desire of shopping even there too.
While visiting a place that’s famous for beautiful palaces, I’m lucky to stay in a beautiful palace which is renovated to be a hotel. The hotel Palazzo Victoria is full of history and the suite room is decorated so beautifully that it felt like we were a royal family staying there. I thorough loved the vintage vibe of it. Also, I couldn’t be happier to share with you that the hotel we stayed there was just a few buildings away from Juliet’s balcony. It was such a magnificent feeling to walk by the residence of Juliet everyday and visualise how Juliet used to stand in the balcony with Romeo standing just beneath. I used to get goosebumps looking at it everyday.
The hotel Palazzo Victoria cultivates the history of Verona with its strong vintage and artistic structure. I love the mysterious well that I found in their lobby. We were specially invited to taste Victoria Brunch on a fine Sunday. The culinary experience was splendid as there was a lot of traditional Italian food. The spread not only had Italian but also some international cuisines.
After having the beautiful brunch, I started to unwind my shopping spree. The designer retail starts right from the building of Palazzo Victoria and it continues until the inner soul is satisfied. I made the most of it and managed to complete the shopping part really quickly because of its walking distance from the hotel.
Once I was done, we decided to explore more and drove to Lake Garda. The roads were serene. Beautiful greenery and hills just took our breath away. I thank my bro for giving me the idea of hiring our own car and opt for a road trip.
It was so adventurous to drive from Milan to Verona the previous night. The road looked mysterious and the city looked so joyous even at midnight. We drove to Verona after wrapping up from our last show at Milan Fashion Week and we reached Verona quite late. But the central area looked so pretty at the late night too.
The next morning, the feeling of adventure transformed to the feeling of being close to the nature. We drove and climbed hills after hills to go to Lake Garda, one of the beautiful places there. The beautiful landscape got us mesmerized on our way to Lake Garda and once we reached Lake Garda, it felt totally magical to capture the sunset over there. If I describe it as phenomenal, even that would fall short.
After having a fabulous day 2 in Verona witnessing the warmth of love and romance and beautiful sunset at Lake Garda, we headed to another romantic place Venezia.
Yes, Venice was as heavenly as I thought it to be. The place of Venice is magical as we all know. But it became more enthralling because we visited at the time of Venice Carnival. I heard about how beautiful the experience of Venice carnival could be from many of my Italian friends and I always had a desire to see it myself.
It was a different kind of experience altogether. Me and my family had an amazing visit. It was so wonderful to see everyone playing dress up games and having gala time. I bet it beats all the prom nights handsomely. The people dressed up as birdies with beaks looked so cute. Then there were many other conceptual dressing up that mesmerized me and my family.
This visit will always keep a special place in my heart. This is not just because I did an adventurous road trip all around Italy with my family but also because of the beautiful timing of our visit.
